This is not readily obvious because mining and smelting are, for the most part, independent of the time of year; with the exception of a few extremely rainy regions of course. In addition storage is comparatively inexpensive. Thus the reason for seasonality has most likely to do with consumption and processing, and moreover with trade and speculation.
Next to traders, dealers and processors, consumers in the metal sector – for example buyers of precious metal or jewelry – can utilize seasonality.
